It is a method of education that emphasizes the memorization of facts and the uncritical acceptance of the teacher’s wisdom. Freire argues that with this method of education, students are treated like empty vessels to be filled with knowledge by the teacher, instead of being an active participant in the learning process. Additionally, Freire criticizes the banking concept of education for its lack of critical thinking, its emphasis on memorization, and its failure to recognize the students’ individual experiences. He believes that education should be liberating and should empower students to think critically and engage in meaningful dialogue.
